In our busy lives, we often become disconnected from ourselves and the people most special to us, even if we see them everyday. Some of us have had life experiences which make it especially hard to connect with our authentic selves and others. Perhaps you’re experiencing this disconnection as depression, anxiety, overeating, drinking or working too much, or some of the many other ways we try to fill the void. I believe that connecting with our authentic selves and others more deeply is the path to freeing ourselves from unnecessary pain, addiction, and unhealthy habits.
I primarily work with individuals. I use different therapeutic approaches depending on my clients and their circumstances and goals. These approaches almost always include but are not limited to cognitive-behavioral therapy and sensorimotor therapy. I am also a trained EMDR practitioner and trained in Internal Family Systems. If you are dealing with anxiety and depression, please read my philosophy regarding how I approach these issues. Give me a call and we can speak by phone for you to get a sense of me as a potential therapist and for me to give you an initial idea of how we might work together in future sessions.
While I work with adults of all ages, a significant portion of my practice is working with seniors. I am a midlife adult quickly approaching my own senior years so I have a particular interest in understanding the opportunities and challenges ahead. I have professional gerontology training from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
